Beginnings

The APL story begins in the Waikato in 1971, established by the Plaw family on Bellevue Road, Cambridge.

Ever since, our family-run business has proudly set the industry standard, becoming New Zealand’s largest manufacturer of aluminium windows and doors, and empowering our people to do the little things better every day.

Deep roots in the Waikato

It’s our home and our playground. Since the company’s inception, we’ve devoted time, resources and a lot of heart to our wider Waikato community, from the education sector to regional sports bodies to local charitable organisations. Our success has been nurtured by this place, and we in turn want to help it to grow.

One-stop-shop

The key to keeping things simple is to keep them seamless – the one-stop-shop approach. As we’ve grown, we’ve developed an end-to-end service for our customers that covers every major step in the process, from extruding the aluminium to delivering our systems and parts directly to manufacturers all over New Zealand. Our eco-system of businesses work together to shape a better future for all.

Within our vertically integrated network of companies we have an on-site aluminium extrusion plant (INEX), double-glazing manufacturing plant (AGP), surface finishing plants (Colour Works for powdercoating and FINEX for anodising), a manufacturing facility (APL Manufacturing), plastic profile extrusion (PPL), and a distribution fleet (APL Direct) servicing our manufacturers.

New Zealand made

Everything we manufacture is designed and tested in the Waikato specifically for New Zealand's unique landscape, weather and aesthetics. Our aluminium is extruded and surface finished in Hamilton. It’s then distributed nationwide to our independently owned manufacturers who fabricate and install the windows and doors into kiwi homes. Who we work with

At APL, we maintain a wide range of partnerships within the building industry, including strong links with representative industry and professional organisations, group home builders and architects and specifiers. We supply independently-owned manufacturers, all over the country, as well as some areas of the South Pacific.
